How this page decides
The answer comes from the gazetted list, which is the only list that carries legal weight. Singapore gazettes 11 public holidays a year (MOM), and the dates on this page are read from the government's own public holidays dataset on data.gov.sg. Days that are widely observed but not gazetted, Teachers' Day and Thaipusam among them, answer no here, because in employment law they are ordinary days.
The rule that moves a date is the Sunday one. When a gazetted public holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday is a public holiday (MOM), which is why this page will sometimes name a Monday that is not the festival itself. Saturday is the asymmetry worth knowing: it gets no automatic Monday. If a public holiday falls on a non-working day you get either a day off or salary in lieu, and if it falls on a rest day the following working day becomes the paid public holiday (MOM).
